I know it has been a LONG time since my last blog. So I thought I’d jump on here and give you all a quick update of where Allie and I are at.
Allie is still in Canada, and I am currently in Australia. So as you can imagine, this does not conducive environment for creativity. That being said, I have been working ferociously on two demo’s, ‘Mark My Words’ and ‘The Moments’. They are sounding great, and we are hoping to record drums this weekend and vocals next week.
I’m enlisting the skills of the talented Dan Southern to record drums, drummer of Soap Box Derby from Wollongong NSW. Allie is tracking vocals with our good friend Matt Montour, who is the co-owner of Box Car Studios in Hamilton Ontario. Soap Box Derby, Box Car Studios, uncanny coincidence!
We are very happy with how things are going so far, and I intend on further developing our new songs with Greg Foster, who co-produced our Sequins EP.
Allie will be in Australia very soon, and we aim to hit the road very soon after. I hope to tour as a five piece, with an additional guitarist, bass player and drummer. Very exciting times ahead.
I look forward to seeing you all at a BowTie gig in Australia very soon!

P.S. I’m currently fascinated with QR Codes, so even though I could just give you the link of where the code will take you, this feels a bit more mysterious ;)

Since arriving in Canada, I’ve been shocked by how many young people do not appear to know the harsh effects that sunburn can have on your body. Some people here seem to think that skin cancer is a disease of hot countries, such as Australia. I may be totally incorrect, however this is just the impression that I get.
Canadians have not been drilled since they were young about ‘skin cells in trauma’, and other media campaigns about the effects of tanning. It disgusts me every time I go to the gym and see people using the tanning salon, and when hearing girls talking about getting ‘base coat’ before summer hits.
I just watched a video called ‘Dear 16-year-old Me’ (Click on the text ‘Dear 16-year-old Me’ at the top of post), which was produced by the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund to raise awareness of melanoma and reduce the number of skin cancer cases. Everyone can benefit from watching this, and hopefully this will make you think before you go to the tanning salon, or tan by the pool without sunscreen on.

EU BUDGET
Show the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, that the people of Europe support the fight against extreme poverty.THE 1 TRILLION EURO QUESTION
After releasing BowTie ‘Sequins’ 100% independently (i.e. it is has been 100% self funded and released, rendering Allie & I poor) I have been reading many articles about how to best market our music. I have read a plethora of emails that glorify the current market state, and preach the monetary benefits of being unsigned. Recently, I have also been looking at digital radio sites such as last.fm, spotify and the like. After some getting familiar with internet radio, I wonder if getting our music on these sites is even worth it (financially). When the user is the DJ, how do they find new music, or furthermore, how do they find our music? (They don’t) …
As I look at the stark position of my indie musician’s bank balance, I pondered how does an indie artist/band make a living? One answer could be to stop browsing the internet and get a ‘real’ job, but that isn’t the answer I’m looking for.
The article I found gives you precise details of how many sales an artist has to make in order to achieve minimum wage in the USA. It is a very interesting read…
We’re looking for a new vaccine to help the children who need it most
Vaccines already exist for some types of pneumococcal disease, but they do not work for every type of the disease or for everyone who needs protection. PATH is looking for a pneumococcal vaccine that will protect children the world over against this deadly infection
Charity Navigator states that it is ‘your guide to intelligent giving’. I found this site from the ‘Path’ website, so I have faith that it is a fantastic organisation.

Once on its way to global eradication, tuberculosis (TB) is staging a frightening comeback in some regions, including Southeast Asia and Africa.
We are happy to announce that our debut E.P. ‘Sequins’ is on sale on iTunes (and several other sites). This is a very proud moment for Allison and I and we would like to thank everybody for putting their support behind the album.
